Professor Iwona Sagan joins the program body of the 2022 World Urban Forum

Professor Iwona Sagan was invited by the Director of the Strategy Department at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy to join a body of experts responsible for the preparation of the program of the 11th World Urban Forum, that will be held in Katowice in 2022. 

The panel of experts consists of 25 representatives of the central government, the City of Katowice, the Silesian Voivodeship, NGOs, business corporations, local government organizations, research institutes, and universities. The works have been carried out in close cooperation with UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlement Programme) – the main organizer of the Forum.

The first World Urban Forum was held in 2001 in Nairobi (Kenya). Currently, it has been the world’s biggest event dedicated to the issues connected with the development of cities and urban regions. This year’s edition of Forum will take place in February 2020 in Abu Dhabi (UAE) under the main theme  “Cities of opportunities – Connecting Culture and Innovation”. It’s worth noticing that even more than 20 thous. participants took part in the former events.
