The project: “Cities as Arenas of Political Innovation in the Strengthening of Deliberative and Participatory Democracy” (Acronym: EUARENAS), led by Professor Iwona Sagan, has received funding from the European Commission under the prestigious Horizon 2020 Program.
On the basis of the recent onset of coronavirus outbreak and an unprecedented situation that affects our everyday life, we decided to conduct on-line research on the perception of home / social isolation during the Covid-19 epidemic. The research is coordinated by dr Joanna Stepien from our Department and professor Tomasz Michalski from Department of Regional Development at the University of Gdańsk. Professor Iwona Sagan was invited by the Director of the Strategy Department at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy to join a body of experts responsible for the preparation of the programme of the 11th World Urban Forum, that will be held in Katowice in 2022. Congratulations!
“Risks to health and safety in urban space resulting from the development of micromobility” – this is the title of the project by dr Joanna Stępień which was awarded in the National Scientific Centre MINIATURA 3 competition. Congratulations!
On the 5th of December 2019, Professor Iwona Sagan gave a lecture at the School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London. Its title was: “From communism to neoliberalism and back to populism: changing models of (not only) urban policy”. It’s been a very important distinction and first Annual David M.Smith Lecture presented by the researcher from Central-East Europe.
