We are very pleased to announce that the paper authored by Grzegorz Masik, Iwona Sagan and James W. Scott has been recently published in the “Cities” journal. The authors deal with the prevailing topic of Smart City strategies, concerning activities and policies implemented in Polish cities.
The project: “Cities as Arenas of Political Innovation in the Strengthening of Deliberative and Participatory Democracy” (Acronym: EUARENAS), led by Professor Iwona Sagan, has received funding from the European Commission under the prestigious Horizon 2020 Program.
Professor Iwona Sagan was invited by the Director of the Strategy Department at the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policy to join a body of experts responsible for the preparation of the programme of the 11th World Urban Forum, that will be held in Katowice in 2022. Congratulations!
The Smart Metropolia Awards have been handed by the Gdańsk-Gdynia-Sopot Metropolitan Area Association for several years to individuals and institutions that show particular commitment to metropolitan cooperation in our region. This year, the award in the “Partner in Action” category went to Professor Iwona Sagan. Congratulations!
We are very pleased to inform that prof. UG, dr hab. Iwona Sagan (the Head of our Department) has been nominated as a member of the Committee for Spatial Economy and Regional Planning at the Presidium of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The term of office covers the 2019-2022 period. Congratulations!
The Conference “Urban Cultural Change: Smartness, Sustainability, Inclusion”, organised by our Department was held in Gdańsk on 29-30 November 2018. It was full of thought-provoking and inspiring contributions!
Participation in the conference that was held in Athens, as well as involvement in the work of the working groups, are actions taken recently by the members of our Team involved in the implementation of the COST Action project entitled ‘European Energy Poverty: Agenda Co-Creation and Knowledge Innovation (ENGAGER)’.
The new book written by dr. Grzegorz Masik, prof. Iwona Sagan, Jan Frankowski and dr Joanna Stępień was published. Its title is: “Living conditions and social services in Gdynia”.
The Conference „Spatial Justice in Europe” as well as the workshops within the “RELOCAL: Resituating the Local in Cohesion and Territorial Development” project were held in Barcelona between February 13th and 15th.
Prof. Iwona Sagan took part in these events as a member of the Advisory Board of the project, which is financed by the EU Horizon 2020 Programme.
On October 4th prof. Iwona Sagan was appointed by Mr Jarosław Gowin, Minister of Science ang Higher Education, to the one of two Polish representatives in the Steering Committee of the COST Action CA16232 „European Energy Poverty: Agenda Co-Creation and Knowledge Innovation”
